A visit to Escape must include a stroll around our picturesque Lakeside Walk. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of nature at Escape and an opportunity to see our conservation project evolve and the area change through the seasons. Across the wildflower meadow it is also possible to see the horses turned out in the back fields, these fields are also where you are most likely to see the deer and foxes that are frequent visitors to the sanctuary.
The end of the jetty is the perfect place to stop for a while and watch the fish basking in the sun. We have many different types of fish in the lake, the easiest to spot are the colourful Koi Carp that like to spend time close to the banks. Looking out across to the island if the sun is in the right place you can occasionally see the large shadows of the Common Carp and Mirror Carp.
Be sure to take a close look into the new ponds and let us know what you find!
Alongside our loud flock of Canada Geese you may also spot Herons, Cormorants and Common Terns. As dusk approaches you may even catch a glimpse of a Barn Owl.
